HFF Health Empowerment Coaches Carla Atherton and JennTara Ward discuss:

-What shifts we must make in both understanding and practice in order to reclaim, recover, remember, and express vital health and wellness.

JennTara Ward is a practitioner of yoga, bodywork and a holistic mama who has been passionate about natural medicine from a young age. She experienced chronic childhood health issues that led her on the path to various types of healing and healers as a young adult. She quickly discovered a strong affinity toward the healing arts and this impulse inspired her to become a licensed massage therapist, doula, certified yoga instructor, facilitator of embodied transformation, mommyeopath & most recently a certified Healthy Family Formula empowerment coach. She has spent over two decades building strong and trusting relationships with students and clients, assisting and guiding them on their healing journey. She is currently living in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her devoted husband Jason and thriving 9 year old son Isaiah.

HFF Health Empowerment Coaches Carla Atherton and Patricia McGinty discuss:

-What is a coach?

-Why are empowerment coaches important, especially now?

-The importance of connection (part of the herd)

-We all have and need guides, mentors, coaches, support people

Dr. Pat McGinty, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist practicing in Louisville, Kentucky with practically a life-time of practicing in the field of psychology. After she received her Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Louisville, she initially taught as an adjunct professor of psychology after the birth of her second child and declined to accept the doctoral program offering because of her desire to have another child and be home with her children. Pat has 4 children and 7 grandchildren that she visits regularly.

She continued to teach part-time, did some annual Standford University research on Head Start in the Louisville schools and was active in parenting programs such as La Leche League, an international organization of nursing mothers, and in her children’s school programs. After her 4th child, she returned to Spalding University to complete a Specialist degree in Counseling Psychology and then to the University of Kentucky for her doctorate in Educational/School Psychology.

Pat has been a life-long learner, always seeking to expand her skills in the service of children, .adolescents and families. She is trained in play therapy, EMDR for trauma treatment, and most recently in complex anxiety, which seems to be on the increase with the recent global health crisis. In June 2020, In her search for more training in health, nutrition, and holistic practices to understand and help her clients, Pat learned about Carla Atherton and the Health Family Formula Health Coaching program and enthusiastically enrolled.

Her family has been hit hard with current health crises since 2020 and had to interrupt her training to attend to her own critical need for post-trauma self-care. Pat has grown through this difficult experience and now sharing her insights on health-oriented treatment and care. Pat is licensed in Kentucky in both School and Clinical Psychology, having completed a pre-doctoral internship in the city public schools and a clinical psychology post-doctoral internship in community mental health. She has worked for 15 years in the Jefferson County Public Schools and then 12 years at Seven Counties Community Mental Health Centers, where she spent her last 7 years there as the Director of a Clinical Psychology Internship program before transitioning to full-time independent practice. She has been active in local, state and national psychology organizations during her career and spent 8 years on the Kentucky Board of Psychology Examiners.

HFF Health Coaches Carla Atherton and Tiffany Lynch have an organic, freeflow conversation about our experiences in the medical system, and the grit, determination, and clarity it took to supersede the limited expectations of our children’s diagnoses and prognoses.

Tiffany Lynch is a professionally trained functional health coach certified through the Healthy Family Formula. She has been passionate about health and fitness for over two decades while working within the health sciences sector her entire career. The insight she’s gleaned from those years, and the experience of coming up against a chronic illness has inspired her to take a deeper look at how we achieve true health and restore resilience. Empowering others to do the same has become her life’s purpose.

Unfortunately, the medical system is overburdened and there are huge gaps in the care and treatment of chronic illness. Navigating these gaps, reducing toxic burden & unraveling the root cause of illness has afforded Tiffany’s family a way out of the medical model which promised nothing but lifelong medications.

In those early moments when she experienced far more fear than hope, Tiffany felt the deep longing for a guide-someone who understood, someone who had lived it and could help them through. Her practice Restoring Resilience was born out of that deep need. Nothing brings her more joy than watching families achieve a deeper level of physical, mental & emotional health than they ever knew was possible.

HFF Health Empowerment Coaches Carla Atherton and Susan Engel discuss:

-What is wrong with our current view of aging and how it contributes to dis-ease.

-What is aging with vitality, and how do we do it?

Susan Engel completed the HFF Health Empowerment Coach program in 2020. The timing was perfect in her life as she was transitioning out of her 37 years of teaching students with learning differences, while the world experienced a pandemic. She is a lifelong learner and entering the world of wellness empowerment was the perfect fit for her. She has used her knowledge to enhance the wellness of herself, her family and her friends. She is interested in empowering others to reach their peak wellness physically, mentally and spiritually. She has taken a keen interest and furthered her studies in Aging with Vitality as she enters that phase of her life and is excited to be launching her program Aging with Vitality through HFF the fall of 2022. It is her mission to break down misconceptions and feelings of powerlessness in the aging process. Each chapter of our lives can be lived with health, happiness and vitality!

HFF Health Empowerment Coach Carla Atherton and Science of Light Founder and Research Director Ken Ceder discuss:

-Why do we need light? What purpose does it serve in human health?

-What is malillumination?

-What can happen when we are deprived of light.

-What we can do to improve the quality of light and increase exposure to that quality light.

-What results should we expect when we illuminate our lives?

Ken Ceder: “Dr. John Ott inspired my life-long passion for the effects of full-spectrum sunlight on biological organisms, including humans. Daily light hygiene is vital for human health, a message that I’ve been advocating for more than 30 years as well as now as the director of Science of Light (SOL), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

SOL’s primary mission is to raise awareness of Mal-illumination; a term coined by Dr. Ott. to describe a contemporary health syndrome akin to malnutrition.

More recently, SOL has focused energy and resources toward fulfilling a mandate to design and provide a solution for the silent epidemic of mal-illumination. SOLshine Photo Nutrition is the result of our effort and initiates a paradigm shift from seasonal light therapy to daily light hygiene.

SOLshine is a balanced ‘nutritional’ lamp that includes critical near infrared light and supplies the correct spectral diet for people who do not, or cannot, spend sufficient time outdoors in the sun.”

Dania Taleb is a 44-year-old full-time mom and a former homeschooling parent. She lives in Arizona with two of her four daughters. Having to move across the world multiple times in a span of 21 years taught her so much about different cultures and backgrounds. Those experiences have greatly impacted building her character and parenting her children. Ever since she was 14, she has always valued the relationship between food and health. Since feeding the soul towards optimal wellness does not only stop at the nutrition aspect of food, she chose to look for more answers to preventative and holistic approaches. Dania joined HFF with the intention of helping herself and her family develop an empowered quality of life.

Ahuva Zauderer is a mother of eight and proud grandma of five! As an artist, the kitchen has always been one place where she expressed her creativity. She was the mom who always had fresh baked cinnamon buns, chocolate chip cookies and muffins on the counter. And her kids were known to have “the best” snacks! She bought Costco size flour and sugar- and used it all!

All that changed when her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the young age of 48. Grasping this heavy diagnosis was quite the challenge. She quickly learned that conventional medicine has no cure, no answers and no hope for people with chronic conditions or conditions that are believed to be irreversible or progressive. She began searching for alternative options, for anything that would give her her husband and a vibrant dad back for her kids. Her journey led her back to school to study nutrition and holistic family health.

This journey has been transformational for her husband, and her family, now understanding the amazing ability we have to take control of our health destiny. Through these new lenses, Ahuva has been able to see that her children’s challenges from skin issues to mood swings are things that are influenced by food, deficiencies and their unique biochemistry. Above all, she now values the incredible power of preventative living, health-giving choices and the magnificent benefits we get from a holistic mind-body connection.
